The Income Tax Department crackdown on huge tax evasion worth Rs. 7,500 crores in Jaipur’s luxury wedding industry. Raids were conducted at over 24 locations targeting well-known wedding planners, caterers, venue operators, and decorators. This major crackdown has exposed illegal practices in one of India’s most extravagant industries.

The investigation focused on big names like Taluka Tent House, Gunjan Singhal Wedding Planners, J Oberoi Caterers, My Bagiya, Mapsor, and The Gulmohar, a famous wedding venue in Kukas. Locations in Jaipur’s main areas, such as C-Scheme, Banipark, Tonk Road, and Civil Lines, were searched.

Authorities found that many businesses used tricks to avoid paying taxes. About 40-50% of payments were officially billed and taxed, while the remaining 50-60% was paid in cash, which was not reported. Some wedding planners used fake invoices to claim tax refunds they weren’t entitled to.

These illegal practices helped service providers avoid paying the 18% GST on wedding services, like venue bookings and catering.

The investigation also revealed that many customers were misled or cheated. Luxury venues like The Gulmohar charged Rs. 8-10 lakh per day, far above normal rates. Even after charging high amounts, some planners provided low-quality services or materials. Families were often hit with unexpected charges after agreeing on a price. In some cases, planners worked with fake.
