Income Tax Dept. updates on Aaykar Sampark Kendra

The Aaykar Sampark Kendra (ASK) Helpline numbers 1800 180 1961 and 1961 are slated to be withdrawn as of June 1st, 2023, i.e. after almost a year (11 months exactly), according to the information from the Income Tax Department.

The Aaykar Sampark Kendra employs customer service agents who have undergone training and are prepared to address a variety of questions regarding income tax, tax filing procedures, tax deductions, tax refunds, PAN (Permanent Account Number), TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number), and other tax-related issues..

However, other tax helplines will work on the same number unless stated by the income tax department. The other tax helpline are:

While Aaykar Sampark Kendra offers helpful information and direction, it is advisable to get advice from a trained tax professional or the local Income Tax Office for particular and difficult tax issues.

Considering the rush of 4.5 Lakhs of people filing returns of income tax in 1 hour, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT),the Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) centres opened from July 31st, 2022 during normal hours to facilitate the income tax return filing for the taxpayers.

The implementation of Aaykar Sampark Kendra was because of the rush of filing the income tax returns, however, the government managed to continue the same throughout the year.

The Income Tax Department has not provided any information regarding a replacement for Aaykar Sampark Kendra's helpline numbers. It is expected that further information will be shared to the common people soon by the department.
