The Income Tax Department, in a recent tweet, warned the taxpayers of a fake account posing as customer care/helpline of the Income Tax Department.
There was a tweet from the fake account with the Twitter handle, @incomet67691294, which replied to an official tweet of the Income Tax Department.
The mobile number included in the tweet from the fake account was 9564148567. The number is reported as Spam in many online directories.
The Official Twitter handle of the Income Tax Department is @IncomeTaxIndia.
The Income Tax Department, in a tweet, clarified that the official helpline numbers for queries are 1800 103 0025 and 1800 419 0025.
The said fake Twitter account has been suspended following a complaint filed by the Income Tax Department.
However, Taxpayers/Stakeholders are advised to be vigilant about the mobile number used by the fraudster(s) posing as ITD Support/Customer Care.
