The Taxation Bar Association, Ludhiana has submitted a representation to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) pointing out certain issues in filing income tax returns through electronic mode.

In the representation, TBA asserts that a bundle of ITR-Vs sent CPC, Bangalore through speed post or ordinary post have not yet received to CPC, Bangalore till now.

“Some members are complaining that they have send ITR-Vs to CPC, Bangalore2-3 times, but all in vain. While speed post record shows that courier successfully delivered. I also want to mention that there is no e-mail lD Provided by CPC on which we can complain about this matter, CPC only have toll free Nos,” the letter reads.

The problem is that the returns will become invalid after the expiry of 120 days.

It was further pointed out the problems in downloading Forms 16 and 16A from TRACES.

“Before firing the income tax returns, it is very important to match assessee’s TDS details to take correct credit of the same. While going through this, the traces site is either very slow and it takes very long to download or the session is expired,” it said.

Since it is very difficult to file income tax returns within due dates under the above circumstances, the Association requested the Board to extend the due dates at least for business class as delay in filing or non-filing of return would result in penal actions against the assesses.
