The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) enables common offline utility for filing Income Tax Returns ITR -3 and ITR – 4 for the Assessment Years 2023-24 on 9th June 2023.  The offline utility for ITR-2 and ITR – 4 will be live shortly.

Income Tax Returns ITR-1 is for individuals who are residents (other than those who are not habitually residents) and who have a total annual income of up to Rs. 50 lakh, including income from salaries, one residential property, other sources (such as interest), and up to Rs. 5,000 from agriculture.

Income Tax Returns ITR- 4 is for individuals, Hindu Undivided Family (HUFs), and firms (other than Limited Liability Partnership) that are residents and have a total annual income of up to Rs. 50 lakh, as well as up to Rs. 5,000 in agricultural revenue and income from a business or profession that is calculated in accordance with Sections 44AD, 44ADA, or 44AE.

Download Common Offline Utility from Income Tax Portal:

  1. Go to income tax portal
  2. In the ‘Latest Updates’ in Home page, you can see the new update
  3.  Click on the update
  4. Click the option ‘Click here’ to download the utilities

After then, a zip file containing the utilities will be downloaded. Download and extract the zip file containing the utilities to the folder and open the utility.

Recently, the Income Tax Department has released the json schema for ITR-1 and 1TR-4 the Assessment Year 2023-2024.

Also, the income tax department has released the excel utilities for the ITR-1 and ITR 4 for the assessment year 2023-24. The excel utility of the ITR is the record that serves as evidence that the assessee has paid all required income tax.
