On Monday, Tesla made an announcement regarding the appointment of Vaibhav Taneja, an Indian-origin accounting expert renowned for his numerical expertise, as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) replacing Zachary Kirkhorn.

As of August 4, 2023, Tesla, Inc. appointed 45 year old Vaibhav Taneja as Chief Financial Officer in addition to his current role as Chief Accounting Officer, to succeed Zachary Kirkhorn. Tesla has seen tremendous expansion and growth when Zachary was the CFO.
Prior to the appointment as CFO, Mr. Taneja has served as Tesla’s Chief Accounting Officer since March 2019, as Corporate Controller from May 2018 and as Assistant Corporate Controller between February 2017 and May 2018. Thus, he started as an Assistant Corporate Controller of Tesla.
EDUCATION AND CAREER
Mr. Vaibhav Taneja completed his B.Com degree from Delhi University in 1999. He initiated his Chartered Accountancy journey in 1997 and successfully became a Chartered Accountant in the year 2000 as part of the 2000 batch at ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). Subsequently, he obtained his certification as a Public Accountant in 2006.
Prior to joining Tesla, Vaibhav Taneja spent 16 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he served as Assistant Manager and later as Senior Manager. Following his tenure at PwC, he assumed the role of Vice President of Accounting Operations and Corporate Controller at SolarCity.
With over twenty years of accounting expertise, he has accumulated valuable experience collaborating with multinational corporations across diverse industries such as technology, finance, retail, and telecommunications.
