A shocking incident took place inside the Income Tax office located in Narhi’s Hazratganj area on Thursday evening, where an argument between two Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers turned violent. One of the officers, Gaurav Garg, a 2016-batch IRS officer, was physically attacked by a senior colleague, leaving him with injuries to his head and face.

According to the Times of India report, the two officers got into a heated argument, which escalated rapidly. During the altercation, the senior officer reportedly struck Garg with a glass tumbler and a paperweight, both of which are common office items but became dangerous weapons in the situation.

The matter was reported to Hazratganj police by Gaurav Garg himself. Ashish Srivastava, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Central Zone, said, “An FIR is being registered, and further action will be taken according to the law.”

The incident has drawn added attention because Gaurav Garg is married to a serving Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. This detail has sparked wider interest within administrative circles, though no official statements have been made on that front.

This is not the first time a workplace conflict among government officers has turned physical. Earlier this month in Bhopal, a state transport officer was assaulted by a colleague in the regional transport office over an internal transfer dispute. The altercation was caught on CCTV and widely circulated, raising concerns about the deteriorating decorum in public offices.
