Italy suspends Tax Assessments amidst COVID-19

The Revenue Agency of Italy has suspended the tax assessments and checks due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. All activities concerning litigation, control, assessment, access, inspection and verifications, collection and tax litigation by the officers have been ceased unless they are about to expire. This is one of the provisions in the directive signed by the Directive-General of Revenue after the Prime Minister Decree on 11 March 2020.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Italy Ministry of Finance had also announced on 13 March, Friday that Value Added Tax(VAT) payments due by 16 March will be postponed until 20 March for companies with a turnover of about €2 million/month and for the small businesses the payments are delayed until 31 May.
