ITAT Member likely to be appointed as High Court Judge

The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the ITAT member P. Madhavi Devi as judge of the Telangana High Court. The Apex Court also recommended the names of six Judicial officers – P. Sree Sudha, C. Sumalatha, Dr. G. Radha Rani, M. Laxman, N. Tukaramji and A Venkateshwara Reddy and ITAT member P Madhavi Devi – were sent to the Supreme Court two years ago by the Telangana High Court collegium, recommending to appoint them as judges of the High Court under judicial quota.

Madhavi Devi was born on 28 Dec 1965 in Hyderabad. She Completed LL.B., LL.M. and Joined Government Service on 01 Mar 2005. She is presently posted at Income Tax Appellate Tribunal ( ITAT )  Hyderabad bench.

She was Practised as an Advocate from 20.08.1992 till February 2005 at Hyderabad in various branches of Law.

Since the constitution of the Telangana High Court, no judge from the judicial quota has been appointed. Now, the Supreme Court collegium considered the recommendations of the High Court and forwarded them to the Union government for consideration.

Apart from it, recently, the Telangana High Court recommended seven advocates’ names to the Supreme Court to consider them to appoint as Telangana High Court judges from the Bar quota.
