ITAT panel releases Finalized Draft of ITAT Rules: Seeks Stakeholders’ Comments [Read the Draft Rules]

The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) panel yesterday released finalized draft of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Rules, 2017. The copy of the rules was published in the Official Website of the ITAT with a public notice seeking opinions and comments of stakeholders.

A committee headed by the Chairman Sunil K Yadav, Vice-Chairman RS Syal and Member, Paramod Kumar were entrusted with the work of preparing new rules for the ITAT.

“Over a period of time, it was widely felt that the income tax (Appellate Tribunal), 1963 Rules have outlived their utility to some extent in view of changing circumstances and the use of technology in the Tribunal’s functioning. In the times to come, the use of technology in the Tribunal’s day to day functioning will increase manifold. It is in this background that a need is felt to revisit the existing rules and substitute the same by the new rules,” the committee said in its public notice dated 11th May.

The stakeholders can submit their comments and suggestions on or before 12th July 2017 either by e-mail to itat.rulescommittee@gmail.com or by post to the ITAT head office at New Delhi.
