The Kerala government proposed to allocate ₹2.11 crore to the State Audit Department to make things more transparent and efficient. This money will be used to update a crucial software called ‘Project Information and Management System,’ which helps the department work better.
The ‘Project Information and Management System’ plays a crucial role in facilitating the seamless operation of the State Audit Department, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and timeliness in its functions.
The Government has also allocated Rs. 16.8 crores to the State Goods and Services Tax ( SGST) department for awareness campaigns and infrastructure developments. The Kerala Finance Minister, on 5th February 2024 stated that “ An amount of ₹ 2.11 crore is earmarked to Kerala State Audit Department including the updation of the software ‘Project Information and Management System’ which has been developed for the effective functioning of the Department.”
The state finance minister also proposed to lower taxes and registration fees for All India Tourist Permit ( AITP ) Buses aiming to boost the local registrations. Further, the government also revised the court fees of the cases registered under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
The Minister stated that the government’s objective is to draw an investment of Rs. 3 lakh crore into the state within the upcoming three years. He highlighted the focal points, emphasizing projects in the tourism sector with quick completion timelines, associated developmental initiatives in the vicinity of Vizhinjam and Cochin Ports, the advancement of industrial corridors in Kochi, Palakkad, and Kannur, where land acquisition has already taken place, and the promotion of IT-IT Enabled Services (ITES).
