The Central Board of Direct Taxes ( CBDT ) issued an order regarding the posting and transfer orders of senior officers of the Income Tax Department. The shuffle includes officers of the rank of Principal Chief Commissioners. The officers have been put on new duties and responsibilities at different places in view of the administrative requirements.
The office order, issued on April 15, 2025, lists the names of the transferred officers along with the details of their new postings. In addition to the transfers, the CBDT has also promoted 82 officers to various positions. For officers currently on deputation and included in the list, the order specifies that their postings will be reviewed upon their return from deputation.

In addition, 58 officers selected have been invested with extra duties. Nonetheless, the order states that such officers will not be eligible for any additional compensation according to the terms of FR 49. Those officers who would like to present any representation of their transfer may do so after reporting to the new place of posting. In addition, all leave applications made hereafter shall be considered from the new place of posting only.
The order also requires that compliance reports regarding the relieving of officers should be sent to the concerned officers, the CBDT Board, and the Data Base Cell by April 22, 2025. The process of relieving and joining is to be mandatorily done online through the official portal www.irsofficersonline.gov.in and should be approved by the respective Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCA). A copy of the compliance should also be sent by email to dbc.cbdt@incometax.gov.in.
