The Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) has issued an advisory stating that all banks handling government transactions must remain open on March 31, 2025 (Monday), despite it being a public holiday.
The government has requested the apex bank to keep the agency banks open for the year end day for keeping the government transactions live.
As per the directive, Agency Banks—banks that handle government business—must keep their branches open for transactions related to government receipts and payments on that day.
Additionally, the RBI has instructed banks to publicize the availability of these banking services on March 31 so that customers are aware and can complete their financial transactions without confusion.
