Member (Judicial) Vacancy in CESTAT

The Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) have invited applications for the post of Member (Judicial).

The Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal is an Appellate authority established under Customs Act 1962 to hear various appeals.

Under the Customs Act of 1962, the Central Excise Act of 1944 and the Finance Act of 1994. The principal bench of CESTAT is situated in New Delhi and its Other Benches are situated in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Chandigarh and Hyderabad. A member, upon Selection, may be posted in any of these places.

Qualifications:

• he has, for a combined period of ten years, been a District Judge and Additional District Judge; or (ii) he has been a member of the Indian Legal Service with ten years of experience in litigation and has held a post of Additional Secretary or any equivalent or higher post for two years; or
• he has been an advocate for ten years with substantial experience in litigation under indirect tax laws in Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal, High Court or Supreme Court.
