MP Government Terminates 52-Year Tradition of State-Funded Income Tax for Ministers
All ministers will be required to pay income tax on their earnings from their own resources, says the Chief Minister Yadav

Today, the Madhya Pradesh government has made a historic change by terminating the 52 - year tradition of paying income tax for the ministers out of the state fund. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced this historic decision following a cabinet meeting where the abolition of a 52-year-old rule was deliberated and approved.
Since 1972, the Madhya Pradesh government had shouldered the responsibility of paying income tax on the salaries and allowances provided to its ministers. However, in order to promote fiscal responsibility and transparency, the MP Chief Minister announced that the cabinet had unanimously resolved to terminate this subsidy.

State Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya elaborated on the deliberations within the cabinet meeting, noting that the Chief Minister proposed the idea that ministers assume responsibility for their income tax obligations. This suggestion received great support among cabinet members, leading to the decision's immediate adoption.
