The Mumbai Airport Customs has seized 4.13 kilograms of gold valued at Rs. 2.28 Crore from four passengers across four separate cases.

In one of the cases, customs officials discovered 2117 grams of 24 karat crude gold jewellery concealed in pouches stitched to the inner garments of a passenger. This sophisticated smuggling attempt aimed to evade detection by hiding the valuable items in inconspicuous places.

In the remaining three cases, customs officers found 24 karat gold dust concealed in the rectum of the passengers. This method of concealment, while not uncommon in smuggling operations, poses significant health risks to the individuals involved.

The Mumbai Airport Customs authorities have reiterated their commitment to enforcing strict border security measures to prevent the smuggling of contraband items. They urged passengers to comply with customs regulations and declare any dutiable items to avoid facing legal consequences.

Recently, the Customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport ( RGIA ) in Hyderabad successfully intercepted and seized 5.92 kg of smuggled heroin valued at Rs. 41 crore. The official release on Sunday detailed the events leading to the confiscation, shedding light on the diligent efforts of the Hyderabad Customs in combating contraband smuggling.
