The National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN) has officially announced the schedule for the latest iteration of the Departmental Promotion Examination for Tax Assistants aspiring for promotion to the grade of Executive Assistants.

The exams are scheduled to be conducted from April 21 to April 23, 2025. Interested applicants have been instructed to send in their nominations to appear for the exam and to adhere to the following deadlines provided by NACIN:

Each subject paper shall be out of 100 marks and candidates shall be required to secure at least 50 marks to pass the subject.

Candidates have been advised to refer to the Departmental Examination Rules (DER), 2024, dated December 18, 2024 (pages 79-81), for a detailed syllabus.

The examinations shall primarily be conducted in a written format, with candidates required to answer in physical answer booklets. All papers, except for Paper III (Computer Application and Use of Internet), will be handwritten, and candidates must ensure that their NACIN-assigned Roll Number is recorded on every page.

Paper III will include both a theory and practical component. The exams will take place at specified examination centers under strict supervision, with guidelines outlined in Annexure-I to maintain fairness and discipline.

Key Instructions for Candidates:

  • Computer Applications Exam: The theory exam will be from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by the practical exam from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on April 22. Candidates must score at least 25 marks separately in theory and practical to qualify.
  • Examination Conduct: Mobile phones, AI tools, or any other electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited in the exam hall.
  • Seating & Answer Sheets: Candidates must fill in Roll Numbers assigned by NACIN on all answer booklet pages. Names or identifying marks are not allowed.
  • Fair Practices: Any unfair means or malpractice may lead to cancellation of candidature.
  • Result Declaration: Results will be conveyed to the Cadre Controlling Authorities (CCAs).

The Notification is also coupled with Annexure-II, which provides the proforma for nomination and request for question papers. This form must be submitted by the respective Commissionerates, detailing candidate information and ensuring timely receipt of examination materials.

Annexure-III contains the sample format for the first three pages of the answer booklet, which candidates must use during the examination. This annexure outlines essential details such as Roll Number, subject, date, and space for invigilator verification to ensure transparency and proper documentation.
