The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has sealed the Mantri Square mall due to the non-clearance of substantial property tax arrears. The mall is situated in Malleswaram and the management of the mall had been directed by the BBMP to settle its outstanding tax dues.
The Mantri Square mall owes Rs 51 crore in tax dues to BBMP. The BBMP has issued notices to the mall management several times in the past by the Palike, to clear the arrears, but there was no response.
Joint Commissioner, BBMP West Zone commented that mall authorities had not paid property tax since 2018-19. “The total outstanding amount is ₹42.63 crore. We have been serving notice to the mall administration. However, they have not paid the dues. Hence, on Saturday, according to the procedure, we seized various movable assets from the mall,” he said.
