HCL Infosystems Limited has reported receiving a rectification order from the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department, Noida, addressing an earlier tax demand of Rs. 80.22 lakhs that had been erroneously confirmed.

Earlier this year, on February 5, 2025, the company disclosed that it had received a demand order from CGST authorities related to the reversal of various pre-GST cesses transitioned into the GST regime. Although the amount in question had already been reversed by the company under protest, a summary order (Form DRC-07) mistakenly confirmed the demand again.

HCL Infosystems filed a rectification application under Section 161 of the CGST Act, 2017, to resolve the issue. The authorities accepted the request and issued a rectification order in Form DRC-08 on June 3, 2025. This order acknowledged the earlier appropriation and corrected the demand details on the GSTN portal.

The company clarified that there were no violations or contraventions involved and that the rectified order has no material impact on its financial, operational, or other business activities. The disclosure was made in accordance with regulatory requirements to maintain transparency in tax-related matters.

About HCL Infosystems

Founded in 1976, HCL Infosystems has been a key player in shaping India’s IT infrastructure landscape. Initially a part of the larger HCL Group, the company emerged as a leading system integrator and IT services provider, focusing on both enterprise and government segments. Over the decades, it has delivered solutions across domains such as hardware distribution, IT consulting, system integration, cloud services, and managed services.

In recent years, HCL Infosystems has undergone strategic restructuring to streamline operations and focus on distribution-led business models. Its system integration business has been largely phased out, but the company continues to provide support services and distribution for IT products, including partnerships with global technology brands.

Though the company is no longer a core IT services giant like its former peer HCL Technologies, HCL Infosystems remains an active entity, with regulatory compliance and governance at the core of its functioning.
