Over 30 Lakh Audit Reports Filed on E-Filing Portal of Income Tax Dept by Sept 30: CBDT

The Income Tax Department extends its gratitude to taxpayers and tax professionals for their punctual compliance in submitting Tax Audit Reports (TARs) and various other audit reports, such as Form No. 298, 29C, 10CCB, and others. As of the due date, a total of over 30.75 lakh audit reports, including approximately 29.5 lakh Tax Audit Reports, have been successfully filed for the Assessment Year 2023-24 on the e-filing portal.

To support taxpayers, comprehensive outreach initiatives were conducted by the department. A total of approximately 554 lakh outreach activities were undertaken through channels such as emails, SMS, and social media, in addition to informative messages posted on the Income Tax portal.

These efforts aimed to raise awareness among taxpayers about the importance of submitting Tax Audit Reports and other audit forms within the prescribed deadline. Furthermore, the Income Tax portal featured various user awareness videos designed to offer guidance. These collaborative endeavours have proven beneficial in assisting both taxpayers and tax professionals in meeting the deadline for filing audit reports.

According to the department, the e-filing portal efficiently managed the influx of users, delivering a hassle-free experience to both taxpayers and tax professionals when filing audit reports. This seamless filing process has garnered praise from professionals across various platforms, including social media.

Further stated that, in the month of September 2023, the e-filing Helpdesk team actively addressed around 2.36 lakh queries from taxpayers, offering proactive support to both taxpayers and tax professionals during the filing period. They assisted in resolving any complexities that arose during the process. The Helpdesk support was provided through various channels, including inbound and outbound calls, live chats, Webex sessions, and co-browsing sessions.

Additionally, the Helpdesk team efficiently managed queries received via the Department’s Twitter handle through Online Response Management (ORM), reaching out to taxpayers and stakeholders promptly to provide real-time assistance on various issues. Moreover, a series of webinars related to the filing of Audit forms were conducted to offer guidance to tax professionals.
