Shri Pranab Kumar Das, IRS has taken over as Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), on superannuation of Sh. S Ramesh on 31.12.2018.
Senior Officer Pranab Kumar Das, a 1983 batch IRS Officer of Customs & Central Excise Cadre was appointed as Member in the Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC) in the year 2017.
Senior bureaucrat S Ramesh was appointed as chairman of the CBIC in July as the then Chairman Vanaja N Sarna retired from the post. Ramesh, a 1981 batch officer of Indian Revenue Service (customs and central excise), was in the CBIC, an apex policy-making body for indirect taxes including GST and customs.
