The Puducherry Legislative Assembly has passed the Puducherry Value Added Tax (Amendment ) Bill 2017 today by voice vote.
Through this Amendment, the State Government has waived off Value Added Tax (VAT) on Helmet, Swachh Bharat equipments and power tillers.
The Chief Minister V.Narayansamy said that, the Value Added Tax amendment bill would be considered to be in force from October 1 last year.
By amending the certain provisions in the Act, the Value Added Tax of 16.5 percent in force for cleaning equipments under swacch mission and Value Added Tax on Helmet is being totally abolished.
The Amendment also waived off 10 percent Value Added Tax on power tillers.
The Government Order in this regard would be issued shortly, the Chief Minister said.
