The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced changes to lead bank responsibilities in the state of Rajasthan after the government reorganised several districts. This decision comes after Rajasthan officially merged and reshaped its district boundaries in December 2024.
According to the notification issued on April 11, 2025, nine newly created districts have now been merged into 12 existing ones. Because of this, the RBI has cancelled earlier lead bank assignments for the nine districts.

These districts included Kekri, Shahpura, Anupgarh, Sanchore, Neem ka Thana, Gangapur City, Dudu, Jaipur (Rural), and Jodhpur (Rural). Previously, banks like Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, and UCO Bank were assigned responsibilities in these areas.
With the restructuring, the RBI has reviewed and either kept or updated lead bank roles in 12 affected districts. In most cases, the current lead bank remains the same, but there are changes in the Jaipur and Jodhpur districts, where the lead bank responsibilities have been updated.
