The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has assigned 30 banks with the responsibility of managing unclaimed deposits via the UDGAM portal. On August 17, 2023, the RBI Governor introduced a centralized web portal named UDGAM (Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access Information).
This RBI-driven initiative seeks to provide the public with an efficient means of searching for their unclaimed deposits across multiple banks, all within a unified platform.

The search feature was originally launched on the portal for seven banks, and it was announced that the search functionality for the remaining banks would be gradually rolled out by October 15, 2023. RBI has informed the public that the search option for 30 banks was actually made accessible on the portal on September 28, 2023. This inclusion encompasses approximately 90% of the unclaimed deposits (in terms of value) within the Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund.
