Sarees and dhotis are classifiable under different heading depending on their constituent, the tax department said. A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on HSN code has been issued by the department today clarifying HSN codes and rates of certain goods.

With regard to fabric, it said that it will attract 5% whether or not in form of cut pieces.

It further clarified that puja samagris and rachis would attract Nil GST.

For wet dates, the tax rate is 125, it said.
