SBI Sanitation Worker in UP Earning Just ₹15k Monthly Receives ₹33.88 Cr Income Tax Notice

People from a poor background are all receiving income tax notices. These repeated cases have raised serious concerns about the misuse of PAN cards to carry out illegal financial activities

A sanitation worker in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, was shocked to receive an income tax notice demanding Rs. 33.88 crore, even though he earns just Rs. 15,000 a month. Karan Kumar Valmiki works as a cleaner at the State Bank of India’s Khair branch. He and his family are confused over how this could happen.

According to India Today, the income tax notice which arrived on March 29, mentioned that Karan had been involved in transactions worth over Rs. 33 crore and asked him to respond by March 31. Karan said he has never done any big financial deals and has no business or other income. He immediately went to the Income Tax Department, where an official advised him to file a police complaint.

Karan then went to the police station and submitted a complaint, but so far, no FIR has been registered. He says he is still going from one office to another, trying to get help but not getting any clear answers.

This is the third such case in the last 10 days in Uttar Pradesh. Before Karan, a juice vendor got a tax notice of Rs. 7.54 crore, a locksmith received one for Rs. 11.11 crore, and an egg seller. All these people are from poor backgrounds and earn very little money. These repeated cases have raised serious concerns about whether others are misusing PAN cards to carry out illegal financial activities.

This misuse of a PAN card may be part of a larger scam. People are now asking the authorities to investigate these cases properly and protect ordinary workers like Karan from getting caught in such problems.

Karan and his family are still waiting for answers and support from the police and tax department, hoping that someone will fix this problem.
