The Central Government appointed Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, IRS as new Chairman for the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). He replaced Shri Vivek Johri, who will become the ex-chairman of the CBIC from now on.
The notification no. No.31/1/2023-EO(SM.II) was issued on 5th August 2023 by the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the following:
- Appointment of Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, IRS(C&IT:1988), Member, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) to the post of Chairman, CBIC; and
- Appointment of Shri Surjit Bhujabal, IRS (C&IT:1989), Principal Director General, DGGI, Delhi to the post of Member, CBIC vice Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, IRS(C&IT:1988)
In 2022, Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, IRS was appointed as the member of CBIC from the post of Principal Director General, DGGI.
