The Supreme Court of India has formally announced the schedule for the upcoming Advocates-on-Record ( AoR ) Examination for 2025.
The notification released on Wednesday, April 9, outlines that the examination will take place in New Delhi over multiple days in June next year. According to the official communication, candidates should prepare to appear on the 16th, 17th, and 21st of June, 2025, although some details in the notice also indicate the possibility of an exam session on the 20th.

The exam notification is issued under the authority of Rules 5(i) and (ii) of Order IV of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, and Regulation 2 of the Regulations governing the AoR Examination. These regulatory provisions are central to ensuring that the examination process upholds the highest standards of fairness and rigor.
Aspiring candidates must pay close attention to the outlined eligibility criteria. Only those advocates who have completed at least one continuous year of training – commencing at the end of their fourth year of enrollment and concluding no later than April 30, 2025 – are deemed eligible to sit for the exam. In addition, any candidate who is poised to complete the mandatory training before the exam commences will also qualify. A key component for application acceptance is the presentation of a valid training completion certificate from an already accredited Advocate-on-Record, as stipulated by Regulation 6 of the governing AoR Examination Regulations.

The application process is clearly delineated in the notification. Interested candidates can submit their duly completed application forms at the AoR Examination Cell, located in Room No. 307 on the third floor of the B-Block in the Administrative Buildings Complex at the Supreme Court in New Delhi (PIN: 110001).
The application window opens on April 15, 2025, and continues until the strict deadline of 5:00 PM on April 30, 2025. Prospective candidates are advised to ensure that all submission guidelines are meticulously followed. For ease of reference, a copy of the application form along with comprehensive instructions and submission protocols is attached to the official notification as Annexure ‘A’. Additionally, physical copies of the form are available for collection on any working day during office hours at the AoR Examination Cell.
