Tax Payers can Migrate to GST till October 31st: Govt Notifies Amended CGST Rules [Read Notification]

The Central Government, last day notified the amended CGST Rules, 2017 through which the last date for migrating to the new indirect tax regime has been changed to October 31st.

The amendment also extends the due date for filing FORM GST TRAN-1, Declaration of stock held by a principal and job-worker and Details of goods sent on an approval basis. Earlier, the time limit of ninety days was applicable to all these forms. As per the amendment, “the period specified in rule 117 or such further period as extended by the Commissioner” shall be applicable to these cases.

The amendment also inserts provision for revision of declaration in FORM GST TRAN-1.

The CGST Rules further enable the taxpayers to cancel the applications for provisional registration and cancellation of migrated registration.
