Telengana Govt. writes Centre to relax Penalty on delayed GST Returns

After the introduction of new Indirect tax regime, namely GST (Goods and Service Tax) which turns three months older. Now the Telengana Government has written to the Central Government to relax the penalty on delayed GST returns.

Normally the defaulting traders has to pay Rs.200/- per day. Out of this Rs.100/- should be given to the state government.

Due to some network problem the traders brought into the notice of the state government. Then the state government asked the centre to relax the penalty norms against traders who failed to file the GST returns within the stipulated time period.

Now the government seeks relaxation for August and September. People were in hope that the centre would relax the penalty norm and would solve the technical delay in GST network.

Somesh Kumar, Principal Secretary of Commercial Taxes department, said that “The problem with GST network was faced in several states.  Traders have requested us to relax the penalty norms. We have requested the Centre to consider it”.
