19 New Judges Appointed to Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Gauhati High Courts

Majority of the appointments have come by means of elevating practicing advocates to the Judiciary, which is indeed a significant shift in terms of roles and responsibilities

The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of 19 new Judges and Additional Judges to the Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Gauhati High Courts.

As per the official communication, four advocates have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Telangana High Court. The advocates who have received this appointment are Gouse Meera Mohiuddin, Chalapathi Rao Suddala alias S. Chalapathi Rao, Vakiti Ramakrishna Reddy and Gadi Praveen Kumar.

In the Madhya Pradesh High Court, a total of eleven individuals have been appointed.

Of these, five advocates including Pushpendra Yadav, Anand Singh Bahrawat, Ajay Kumar Nirankari, Jai Kumar Pillai and Himanshu Joshi have been appointed as Judges.

Furthermore, six judicial officers, namely, Ramkumar Choubey, Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Alok Awasthi, Ratnesh Chandra Singh Bisen, Bhagwati Prasad Sharma and Pradeep Mittal have been appointed as Additional Judges of the High Court.

The Gauhati High Court has seen the appointment of four new Additional Judges. Among them are two advocates, Anjan Moni Kalita and Rajesh Mazumdar, while Pranjal Das and Sanjeev Kumar Sharma are judicial officers.

The judges have been appointed by the President of India in exercise of the powers conferred under the Constitution of India, following consultation with the Chief Justiceof India

The elevation of practicing advocates to the Bench marks a significant career transition from the Bar to the Bench. The induction of the Advocates as Judges and Additional Judges not only recognises their professional competence and legal acumen but also reinforces the vital role that advocates with extensive experience in court-hall practice play in strengthening judicial institutions.
