It is anticipated to release official notification for the 20th edition of the All India Bar Examination (AIBE 20) by the Bar Council of India (BCI) by this Week.

The notification for last year was issued on September 23, 2024, with the exam held in December. AIBE is a mandatory certification for law graduates aiming to practice in Indian courts.

It is expected to conduct the AIBE 2025 examination in the second or third week of December. The official notification will provide comprehensive information on eligibility criteria, the syllabus, exam instructions, important dates, and the detailed registration process.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for AIBE 20, candidates must have

●An LLB degree from a recognised law institution.

●Enrollment with a State Bar Council.

Registration Process

●Visit the official AIBE website: allindiabarexamination.com.

●Create an account by providing login credentials.

●Complete the application form by entering personal, contact, and academic details.

●Upload essential documents, including the enrolment certificate, degree or academic transcripts, a valid photo ID, recent passport-sized photographs, and a digital signature.

●Pay the prescribed application fee.

●Submit the application form for confirmation.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

AIBE 20 will be a 100-mark objective-type examination.

●100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs); each carries 1 mark.

●Negative Marking: None.

●Duration: 3 hours and 30 minutes.

●Mode: Offline (pen-and-paper).

●Usually offered in multiple Indian languages.

The questions covering key legal subjects such as:

●Constitutional Law

●Indian Penal Code

●Intellectual Property Law

●Evidence Act

Pass Criteria:

As a criteria for passing the exam, the candidates from the General and OBC categories must secure 45% marks.

The candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories require 40% marks to pass.
