It is important to verify the accuracy of all information on inbound and outgoing supply as well as tax obligations. The CBIC, through its Twitter page, has sought the attention of Non-Resident Taxable Persons (NRTPs) to file the GSTR 5 for June immediately, as today, July 13, 2025, is indeed the last day to file the same.
Non-Resident Taxable Persons (NRTPs) are required to file the monthly GST return known as GSTR-5. During the time of their GST registration, it records information about all outgoing and inbound supplies, credit/debit notes, tax liabilities, and taxes paid.
Non-Resident Taxable Persons (NRTPs) are people or organizations that do not have a fixed place of business or habitation in India but periodically engage in transactions involving the supply of goods or services (or both) in India.
An NRTP must file GSTR-5 within seven days of the end day of the registration period if they are granted a temporary GST registration. However, they must file monthly GSTR-5 returns by the 13th of the next month if their registration is valid for more than one month.

In addition to penalties for missing the GSTR-5 deadline, late tax payments are subject to interest at the rate of 18% annually. Restrictions on submitting additional GST returns may result from non-filing. Notices and other legal problems may arise from noncompliance.
It is important to verify the accuracy of all information on inbound and outgoing supply as well as tax obligations. ITCs are available to NRTPs for imported goods, but typically not for domestic purchases or imported services. A nil return must be filed even in the absence of any business activity.
