Budget 2026-27: Finance Bill 2026 Out !!

The Union Budget for the Financial Year 2026-27 was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha today (Sunday, 1 February 2026). This is her 9th consecutive budget. The Finance bill proposing the tax changes and updates is out.
The Finance Bill, 2026, which was filed in the Lok Sabha as Bill No. 3 of 2026, details the applicable income-tax rates, surcharge structures, cess provisions, and change clauses across several tax laws. It aims to implement the Central Government's budgetary proposals for FY 2026-2027.
The Bill is structured into multiple chapters covering income-tax rate provisions, direct tax amendments, indirect tax changes, customs tariff updates, GST amendments, and special compliance schemes.

It provides the statutory backing for new tax rates, surcharge structures, cess continuation, and amendments to both the existing Income-tax Act, 1961 and the newly enacted Income Tax Act, 2025 framework.
The Budget proposals now enter the parliamentary legislative process, where thefinance Bill will be debated, may see amendments, and must be passed by Parliament before becoming law upon presidential assent. After that the same will be published through the official gazette, which makes it to Act.
