A major burglary was reported in Madhuranagar Colony, where unidentified burglars looted gold, diamond jewellery, and cash worth approximately Rs. 60 lakh from the residence of a retired GST Superintendent, Akula Hari Rao.

The incident came to light on June 24, when the family returned from a trip to their native place in Andhra Pradesh. According to the complaint filed by Mr. Rao, he and his family had left their home, located in Satyadevi Villas, Madhuranagar, on June 21. Upon returning after three days, they found the main door open and several household items scattered, indicating a break-in.

Further inspection revealed that a locker in the bedroom had been broken into, and valuables stored inside, including a large amount of gold jewellery, diamond ornaments, and cash, were missing. The estimated value of the stolen property is said to be around Rs. 60 lakh.

Initial reports suggest that the burglars may have used duplicate keys to gain entry, as there were no signs of forced entry on the main door. The calculated nature of the burglary has raised suspicion that the intruders had prior knowledge of the family’s absence and possibly their routines.

Following the complaint, Madhuranagar police registered a case and launched a formal investigation. Forensic experts were called to the scene to collect fingerprints and other evidence. Police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning neighbors and security personnel to gather leads.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the crime was carried out by local criminals or if it involved a more organized group. The possibility of an inside job or leak of travel information is also being considered.

No arrests have been made yet, and police are actively pursuing multiple angles in the case.

The incident has caused concern among local residents, especially in the otherwise quiet and residential Madhuranagar Colony. Police have urged the public to remain alert, ensure proper security measures, and report any suspicious activity promptly.
