CBI Arrests Long-Absconding Proclaimed Offender in ₹1.18 Crore Bank Fraud Case
CBI arrests long-absconding accused Bablu alias Ravindra Yadav in ₹1.18 crore bank fraud case after over a decade on the run.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Bablu, also known as Ravindra Yadav, in connection with a major bank fraud case involving a loss of ₹1.18 crore. He was arrested on 24 July 2025 from Gulawati, a town in Bulandshahar district of Uttar Pradesh. Bablu had been declared a proclaimed offender and had been absconding for several years.
The case dates back to December 2011, when a complaint was filed by a senior officer of the State Bank of India in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The complaint alleged that Nawal Kishore Gupta, who was then the Branch Manager of Punjab National Bank’s Sikandarabad branch, along with Bablu and others, committed fraud by opening fake current accounts.
They used forged documents such as fake voter ID cards, PAN cards, and false rent agreements to create these accounts and divert funds.
Following the investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet on 30 August 2013. The chargesheet named Nawal Kishore Gupta, Devraj, who was a security guard at the bank, Bablu alias Ravindra Yadav, and another private individual named Manoj. According to the charges, these individuals were involved in fraudulent financial activities that led to the illegal withdrawal and misuse of funds.
The trial moved forward, but Bablu failed to appear in court on 20 December 2023, which was the date of the judgment. The court declared him a proclaimed offender and issued a standing warrant for his arrest. The court proceeded to convict the remaining three accused and sentenced each of them to five years of imprisonment.
