The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Superintendent of Customs posted at Sahar Air Cargo Complex in Mumbai for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10.20 lakh. The bribe was reportedly demanded from a Customs House Agent (CHA) firm in exchange for clearing imported cargo consignments.

According to the CBI, a complaint was received stating that the accused officer was demanding illegal payments to release shipments. The complainant claimed the officer was charging Rs. 10 per kilogram of imported cargo as a bribe, not just for himself but also on behalf of his senior officers. It was also alleged that the officer had warned that consignments would be held up if the bribe was not paid.

The court has granted police custody of the accused until August 6, 2025, to allow further investigation into the case. The CBI has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and more details may emerge as it progresses.
