The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested a Senior Accounts Officer and a Senior Assistant of the GST/Customs Department in Hyderabad for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000.
According to the CBI, the case was registered on the same day against the two accused and some unidentified others. The complaint was filed by a retired Assistant Commissioner of the GST/Customs Department in Hyderabad.
He alleged that the officers had demanded a bribe of Rs. 30,000 from him in order to process and release his arrears related to a pay parity bill. After some negotiation, the demanded amount was reduced to Rs. 25,000.
