The Central Board ofIndirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued Notification No. 64/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated October 9, 2025, amending Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) that has been the primary authority in notifying tariff rate rates on a number of goods, and has been in force for well over two decades.
The latest notification substitutes Tables 1, 2 and 3 of the 2001 notification to revise the tariff values applicable to edible oils, brass scrap, gold, silver and areca nut and certain other specified goods.
The latest amendment updates the tariff values fixed under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. The revised rates have been declared in U.S. dollars per metric tonne (or per unit for precious metals) and are reflective of the current global price trends of key commodities, maintaining parity with the prevailing international market conditions and values of the said goods.
