The Central Board of Indirect Taxes andCustoms (CBIC) has announced the promotion of six senior officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) to the rank of Chief Commissioner in Level 16 of the Pay Matrix (HAG+) against the panel year 2025.

M.R.R. Reddy and Sandeep M.S. Puri, from the 1993 batch, have been promoted to the same grade on an ad-hoc basis. However, this temporary promotion does not entitle them to seniority benefits or future promotion claims, and the government reserves the right to terminate the ad-hoc appointment and revert them to their earlier posts.

Until further orders, all four officers are to take charge on an in situ basis, as their regular postings will be finalised with the approval of the Competent Authority.

In addition, CBIC has confirmed the regular promotion of Ms. V. Sangeeta and S. Thirunavukkarasu (both 1992 batch), who were earlier promoted on an ad-hoc basis through Office Order No. 94/2025 dated June 2, 2025. Their regular promotion also applies against the 2025 panel year and is effective from the date they assume charge.

A Hindi version of the official order is expected to be released shortly.
