The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs ( CBIC ) held its 19th Customs Consultative Group ( CCG ) meeting on July 2 and 3, 2025, to discuss ways to improve India’s trade system and help exporters.
Lab-Grown Diamonds Discussed
The Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council shared updates about the lab-grown diamond sector. They explained how lab-grown diamonds are becoming popular in exports and how India can increase its share in the global market using this eco-friendly alternative.
BIS Explains Quality Rules
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) gave a presentation about Quality Control Orders (QCO). They explained why these rules are important to maintain product quality and safety for exports. BIS also guided businesses on how to follow these quality rules so they can meet global standards and avoid shipment delays.
Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra Supports Small Exporters
The Department of Posts (DoP) showcased the work of Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra, a joint effort by DoP and CBIC to help small exporters. This service helps small businesses with paperwork, booking, and sending goods abroad, making it easier for them to enter international markets and grow their business.

Update on Mega-Port Project at Vadhvan
The Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) shared updates on the proposed mega-port at Vadhvan in Maharashtra. This project will increase India’s port capacity, reduce congestion at current ports, and improve trade connections, helping India handle more exports and imports efficiently.
Focus on Digital Trade Facilitation
CBIC highlighted its progress on digital initiatives, including expanding the ICEGATE platform, electronic cargo tracking, and faceless assessments. These measures have reduced paperwork, speeded up customs clearances, and cut transaction costs for traders.
The meeting showed CBIC’s commitment to regularly engage with stakeholders, listen to industry concerns, and improve trade policies. CBIC stated that such meetings help the government understand and address the needs of exporters, making it easier for them to do business.
