The Central Boardof Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a public notice inviting applications from Indian citizens for the Customs Brokers Examination, 2026, under the provisions of the Customs Brokers Licensing Regulations (CBLR), 2018. The notification was released in August 2025 by the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Palasamudram.
According to the announcement, the examination aims to grant licenses to qualified individuals to act as Customs Brokers. Detailed regulations can be accessed at the official websites www.cbic.gov.in and www.nacin.gov.in.
Online application process
Applications will only be accepted through the Customs Broker Licensing Management System (CBLMS) portal at https://cblms.gov.in. New applicants must register on the portal before proceeding. Once registered, candidates must select the “F Category Exam & License” option. User manuals for registration and form submission have been uploaded under the “Knowledge Center → Help Manual & FAQs” section of the portal.

Fee and submission requirements
A non-refundable fee of ₹500 must be paid either online within the application module or via manual challan at the concerned Policy Section. For those opting for manual challan, a copy of the challan must be uploaded to complete the process. Applications without successful fee payment will be summarily rejected.
Applicants must ensure that forms are accurately and completely filled in. Incomplete or incorrect applications will lead to outright rejection. Further, if false details are later detected, any license granted may also be canceled.
Examination schedule and eligibility list
The list of candidates found eligible will be published on the notice boards or websites of the respective Customs Commissionerates by December 8, 2025. Information regarding roll numbers, admit cards, and exam centers will be provided on the CBIC and NACIN websites under the tab
The written examination will be held in March 2026, in accordance with Regulation 6(7) of CBLR, 2018. Candidates can choose to answer in either Hindi or English. Those who qualify will later be called for an oral examination, details of which will be communicated separately.
Assistance for candidates
For queries related to eligibility, aspirants may consult the official regulations or contact the nearest Customs Commissionerate. Technical support for the CBLMS portal is available through the helpdesk (cblms-helpdesk@gov.in). A dedicated NACIN helpline at cblr-nacinpsm@gov.in will also operate from the opening of applications until the examination date.
With this notification, CBIC has formally commenced the process for licensing new Customs Brokers, ensuring compliance and standardization under the reformed 2018 regulations.
