The Central Board of IndirectTaxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified revised tariff values for select imported commodities including edible oils, brass scrap, areca nut, gold, and silver through Notification No. 56/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated 15th September 2025. The new rates come into effect from 16th September 2025 under Section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962.

As per the notification, the tariff value for Crude Palm Oil has been fixed at USD 1081 per metric tonne, while RBD Palm Oil is set at USD 1085 per metric tonne. “Others – Palm Oil” stands at USD 1083 per metric tonne.

For palmolein, Crude Palmolein has been revised to USD 1100 per metric tonne, RBD Palmolein at USD 1103 per metric tonne, and “Others – Palmolein” at USD 1102 per metric tonne.

Meanwhile, Crude Soyabean Oil is now fixed at USD 1167 per metric tonne.

The revised tariff value for Brass Scrap (all grades) has been notified at USD 5656 per metric tonne, marking an adjustment in line with global market trends.

For precious metals, the tariff value of Gold (in any form covered under Sr. No. 356 of Notification No. 50/2017-Customs) has been notified at USD 1175 per 10 grams. Similarly, Gold bars and coins with purity above 99.5% will also attract the same value of USD 1175 per 10 grams.

In the case of silver, both standard silver and medallions/coins with purity above 99.9% are valued at USD 1364 per kilogram.

The tariff value of Areca nuts continues unchanged at USD 7463 per metric tonne, indicating no revision from the earlier notification. These tariff value adjustments are notified periodically by CBIC to align with international price fluctuations and ensure fair valuation under customs duty computation.

Importers are required to calculate their duty liabilities on the basis of these updated tariff values effective 16th September 2025.

The principal notification governing tariff values remains Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) dated 3rd August 2001, which has undergone multiple amendments. The present update supersedes the earlier Notification No. 53/2025-Customs (N.T.) dated 8th September 2025.
