Central Govt Confirms Appointment of New Chief Justices for 5 High Courts
The Central Government has officially appointed five new Chief Justices across five High Courts. This comes after the Supreme Court Collegium on 14th July 2025, which is chaired by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, made recommendations.
The appointees include:
- Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva (MP High Court judge) as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh HighCourt
- Justice Vibhu Bakhru (Delhi High Court) as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court
- Justice Ashutosh Kumar (Patna High Court Acting CJ) as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court
- Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi (Patna High Court judge) as Chief Justice of Patna High Court
- Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan (Himachal Pradesh High Court judge) as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court

Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, CJ of Rajasthan HC Transferred to Madras HC as Chief Justice
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, CJ of Tripura High Court Transferred to Telangana High Court as Chief Justice
Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, CJ of Jharkhand transferred to Tripura High Court as Chief Justice
Justice K.R. Shriram, CJ of Madras High Court transferred to Rajasthan High Court as Chief Justice
