Centre Extends ADD on Imports of 2-Ethyl Hexanol from EU, Indonesia, Korea RP, Malaysia, Taiwan and USA [Read Notification]
The government has extended the anti-dumping duty on imports of 2-Ethyl Hexanol from six countries until 26 June 2026 to protect domestic manufacturers during an ongoing review

The Finance Ministry's Revenue Department has released Notification No. 38/2025-Customs (ADD) on December 25, 2025. This extends the current anti-dumping duty on imports of 2-Ethyl Hexanol into India. The duty will now stay in place until June 26, 2026, unless it's stopped, changed, or replaced before that.
This notification covers 2-Ethyl Hexanol, which falls under customstariff code 2905 16 20. It applies to imports from the European Union, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United States.
2-Ethyl Hexanol is an important chemical used to make plasticizers. These plasticizers are then used in things like PVC pipes, cables, hoses, flooring, and other everyday and industrial products.
The government first imposed this anti-dumping duty in March 2021. This was after an investigation showed that cheap imports from these countries were hurting Indian manufacturers.

As the duty was about to end, the Directorate General of TradeRemedies (DGTR) started a 'sunset review' in September 2025. A sunset review checks if removing the duty would cause more cheap imports and harm to local industries.
During the review, the DGTR asked to keep the duty going to protect Indian producers. The central government agreed and updated the old notification.
This new notification doesn't change what the product is, which countries are involved, or how much duty is charged. It just extends the time.
After the sunset review finishes, the government will decide if the duty should continue, be changed, or be removed for 2-Ethyl Hexanol.
