The Ministry of Finance, through Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), has issued Notification No. 02/2026-Customs (N.T.) dated 14 January 2026, which notify Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh as authorized customs location for import and export operations.
The notification was issued under Customs Act, 1962 and changed an earlier notification from 1994 that listed ports, airports, and other places where customs clearance of goods is allowed. By this change, Bhogapuram now formally included in list of locations where international trade can happen under customs watch.

As per notification, Bhogapuram authorized for unloading import goods and loading export goods, include all types of such goods. This means goods coming into or going out of India through Bhogapuram can legally go through customs processes like inspection, assessment, and clearance by authorities.
The notification is important because customs approval must be for any place to handle international cargo. Once location is notified under Customs Act, customs officers can post there and importers, exporters can use the facility for trade activities.
