The Kerala Finance Minister Balagopal stated that the deadline of GST Amnesty scheme will not be extended beyond June 30. The minister made the statement while attending a seminar organised by the Kerala Goods and Services Tax (SGST) department and the Traders Welfare Board on the amnesty scheme announced in the State Budget for the one-time settlement of pre-GST regime tax arrears.

As reported in Hindu, it was mentioned that in particular, June 30, 2025 is the deadline for applying for the interest and penalty remission under India's GST Amnesty Scheme 2024. The full amount of tax required must have been paid by March 31, 2025, in order to qualify for this waiver.

The Minister cautioned merchants who have not yet enrolled in the program not to pass up the chance. Mr. Balagopal noted that Kerala has been able to significantly increase its own tax and non-tax income and that the government's enforcement efforts to ensure efficient tax collection will continue.

The General Amnesty, Flood Cess Amnesty, Bar Hotel Amnesty, and Distillery Arrears Settlement program were the four types of amnesty that were introduced in the 2025–2026 Budget. Designed as a comprehensive remedy, the General Amnesty plan allows enterprises to clear arrears related to numerous tax regulations that existed before to the SGST Act's introduction.
