Delhi Customs Seizes 2.2 Kg Green NDPS Substance Worth ₹2.3 Crore from Bangkok Passenger at IGI Airport [Watch Video]

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Delhi Customs (Airport & General) intercepted an Indian passenger on October 27, 2025 at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi, for allegedly smuggling a green-coloured narcotic substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana.

According to officials, the passenger had arrived at Terminal-3, IGI Airport, from Bangkok via flight number 6E 1054 on October 26, 2025. Spot profiling the arrivals, customs officers diverted the suspected individual at the green channel for x-ray screening and baggage examination.

Upon search of the passenger’s trolley bag, officers discovered ten vacuum-sealed polythene pouches containing a green leafy substance suspected to be ganja or marijuana.

Upon diagnostic testing, the material was found to be prima facie ganja/marijuana with an estimated street value of ₹2.3 crore.

Subsequent interrogation of the passenger led to the apprehension of the suspected receiver as well. Both individuals were arrested under Section 43(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 for offences punishable under Sections 20, 23 and 29 pertaining to illegal possession, transportation and conspiracy to traffic narcotics.

The seized narcotic material, along with packaging, was taken into custody under Section 43(a) of the NDPS.

Further investigation into the source, network, and intended distribution of the contraband is currently in progress.
