Delhivery Subsidiary Ecom Express Receives ₹2.63 Crore GST Demand for Alleged ITC Disallowance and Tax Shortfall [Read Order]

Delhivery Limited has reported that its subsidiary, Ecom Express Limited, has received a Goods and Services Tax (GST) demand order of about Rs. 2.63 crore from the Assistant Commissioner of Central GST in Patna, Bihar. The order was issued under Section 74 of the Central and Bihar GST Acts, 2017, read with Section 20 of the Integrated GST Act, 2017.

According to the Delhivery report, the order covers the financial years from 2018–19 to 2022–23. It includes a tax demand of Rs. 1.31 crore, interest of Rs. 35,094, and an equal amount of penalty of Rs. 1.31 crore. The order was received by Ecom Express on October 21, 2025, and Delhivery was informed the following day.

The order was passed due to disallowance of input tax credit and short payment of tax, as per the company’s disclosure. Delhivery stated that Ecom Express will be filing an appeal against the order with the appellate authority. The company clarified that there is no material impact on the financial performance or operations of either Ecom Express or Delhivery Limited.

Section 74 of the CGST Act deals with tax demands arising from alleged fraud, suppression of facts or misstatement. It allows the authorities to recover unpaid tax along with interest and penalties. However, taxpayers have the right to appeal against such orders if they believe the assessment is incorrect.

Delhivery made the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015, which requires listed companies to inform stock exchanges about significant legal or regulatory actions.
