DGFT Extends “Free” Import Policy of Tur till 2027
Earlier, the policy condition prescribed for the free import up to 31.03.2026 but the same has been amended to extend it to 31.03.2027.

The Government of India, through the Ministryof Commerce and Industry, published in the Gazette, Notification No. 72/2025-26 dated 31.03.2026. Through this Notification, the Directorate General of ForeignTrade (DGFT) in the Department of Commerce, extended “free” import policy for tur/pigeon peas (cajanus cajan).

The Indian Trade Classification (Harmonized System) [ITC (HS)] has extended the free import of Cajanus Cajan [ITC (HS) 0713 60 00] under ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule - I (Import Policy) till 31.03.2027.
Earlier, the policy condition prescribed for the free import up to 31.03.2026 but the same has been amended via the powers conferred by Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 2023 read with the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023 by the Central Government.
Section 3 provides for the Foreign Trade Policy while Section 5 allows amendments to the policy from time to time by the Central Government through notifications in the Official Gazette.
